The instructions outlined below are for configuring OCLC’s Connexion Browser (Web) and Connexion Client (PC) software to allow real-time exporting of records into Aleph.  To be successful in downloading, you must use the appropriate “host address” and “port number” for the region of Aleph (server) that you intend to load records.  If an export cannot be performed using the information below, please contact the FLVC Help Desk (

FCS (Colleges)
          Host address = [Production]
          Host address = [Test]
          Port = 76XX [Prod and Test]
(where XX is the library’s two-digit number)

SUS (Universities)
          Host address = [Production]
          Host address = [Test]
          Port = 7525 [Prod and Test]

Configure exporting from Connexion Browser interface

  1. Logon using a valid OCLC id and password
  2. Click the tab labeled General from the options near the top of the page
  3. Below the label General, click the option for Admin
  4. Click the Export Options link.  A form will appear for you to complete.  Use the following parameters:
    • Flagged Bibliographic Record Export Format:  MARC
    • Export Destination: Export to a TCP/IP Connection
    • TCP/IP Connection Options: the host name and port provided by FALSC (see above)
    • TCP/IP Host Settings: leave both options unchecked
    • TCP/IP Timeouts and Retries
      • Timeout: 90
      • Retries: 3
      • Delay: 0 [for example]
    • TCP/IP Local System User Information: leave options unchecked
  5. Click Save My Default at the bottom of the screen

Configure exporting from Connexion Client

The following steps need to be performed on each workstation with the Connexion Client software to allow exporting from OCLC to Aleph.

  1. Open the Connexion Client
  2. From the Tool menu select Options
  3. Click the Export tab

  1. Click the Create button and the New Export Destination window should appear

  1. Click the radio button next to OCLC Gateway Export so it is selected then click the OK button.  The following window will display

  1. Fill in the Host Name and Port provided by FALSC (see above) then click OK
  2. Give a unique name to the Export Destination on the next screen and click OK
  3. The Options screen will reappear and the newly created profile will be listed. Click once on the profile to select it, and then click Close. OCLC’s Connexion Client software is now set up to export records to Aleph.
